UPSC topper Stuti makes it to the position without any coaching classes

New Delhi/Jodhpur: The topmost rank in this year's UPSC examinations has been grabbed, once again by a woman. Haritha V Kumar (AIR 1), an engineer from Kerala (undergoing training at NACEN, Faridabad) secured the top rank in this year's civil services examination.
 
Jodhpur's Stuti Charan has secured third position in country's most coveted exam. This was her third attempt for these exams. Charan's father is appointed with the Rajasthan State ware house as Deputy Director and mother is working as a lecturer with a private school.
 
It is not only this, top position in General, ST and SC categories have been secured by Female candidates. there are 12 women candidates among top 25 and in all 245 women candidates have found place in merit-list (total 998 selections; 753 men, 245 women candidates) released by Union Public Service Commission on May 3, 2013.
 
This year's topper, 27-year-old Haritha hails from Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram and is presently working as a probationer of Indian Revenue Services (IRS) undergoing training in National Academy of Customs Excise and Narcotics (NACEN) in Faridabad.
 
Despite being an MBA, Charan chose Agriculture and Botany subjects. During the entire tenure of preparations for the exams, she did not take any coaching classes and did everything on her own. Charan has also completed her MBA from IIPM (Delhi), in addition to her BSc degree in Botany, Zoology and Bio-Tech. 
 
In an exclusive interview with Dainik Bhaskar, Charan said," I feel that Agricultural needs a big boost in our country, considering the fact that more than 50% of the population depends on this sector. Sadly, its contribution to the economy stands at mere 3%. Hence, I seriously wish to work in this direction".
 
Charan writes poetry too
 
Apart from being an avid reader, Charan is also into writing poetry. She gives all the credit of success to her parents and sister for their constant support and encouragement.
