In Civil Services (Mains) Examination 2008, Geography was again the most preferred subject among the optional subjects chosen by the candidates.
However, Public Administration emerged as the top subjects as far as number of maximum candidates getting recommended (337).
History and Public Administration are 2nd and 3rd most preferred optional subjects which are being opted by maximum number of candidates.
Psychology continues to be the optional subject with highest success rate (10.9 per cent). Although success rate has shown a little decline from 12.6 percent achieved in CSE 2007, still it is ruling the chart.
